Pat Harris (b.1953) "The Ghost Orchid" Oil on canvas, 31 1/2" x 39 1/2" (80 x 100cm), signed & dated 96; signed & inscribed verso.
Pat Harris was born in Dublin in 1953 and studied at the National College of Art and Design from 1973 to 1978, where he was awarded a scholarship. His paintings exude a certain quiet beauty and there is simplicity in his work, due to the assuredness and freshness of his paintwork and the subtle suggestive colour changes he uses. Harris is a regular exhibitor at Taylor Galleries, Dublin and The Fenton Gallery, Cork.
The Ghost Orchid is one of the most revered plants in the world and is becoming increasingly rare.
